What Really Happened in that Double-Blind Violin Sound Test

Laurie Niles, a participating violinist, discusses the methods and meaning of this widely-reported study.  She writes pointedly,

If people are concluding from this study that “professional violinists can’t tell the difference between modern violinist and old Italians,” then I think we need a different study in which violinists are actually asked to identify that.

Niles also gives a perspective on what is so enchanting about those old Italian violins.  Worth reading!
